Sails

“Ships at a distance have every man's wish on board.”
— Zora Neale Hurston

There is something profoundly romantic about being out at sea. So far from everything familiar that the vastness itself becomes your only reference for existence.

I have always been fascinated by that world. The oceans, the harbors, the vessels that venture into the unknown, the creatures that may or may not inhabit its depths, and the people who find themselves surrounded by an immense, restless emptiness filled with wonder.

Sails is a collection of my artwork and musings inspired by that fascination. It isn't necessarily about boats, although there are plenty of those. It's about the mystery of being out there, the romance of distant horizons, and the strange relationship between our small existence and a world too vast to comprehend.

Sails of Dreams

In the summertime, my mind is on the sea.  And on dreams of the sea.  Setting sail.... Original drawing in graphite, along with a version I colored using Photoshop.
